The large urban park, which was laid out in 1905 in the 3rd district of Vienna, runs between Landstraße, the park of the Belvedere and the area of the former southern railway station. It offers relaxation for young and old. There are many children's playgrounds, sports areas, benches, a pond and a good inn called "Zur Kleine Steiermark".

Nice park close to the main station. Great for jogging. There are a few small lakes and an open air pool. There is also a workout area with some equipment, bars etc close to the pool and tram line.

The history of the Swiss Garden:

After the demolition of the Line Wall, a line of defense around Vienna, in 1890 and the incorporation of the suburbs of Vienna, several parks were created on the new open spaces. In 1904, the Vienna City Gardens created the Maria Josefa Park on former storage sites between the former South Station and Arsenal.

In 1919, after the end of the First World War, this area was renamed the Swiss Garden on the occasion of the Swiss relief efforts. Large ponds with rocky areas and fountains, an alpine plant garden, a rose garden with water features and numerous exotic trees were already characteristic of the Swiss Garden at that time.
