During the liberation battles in 1918, the Germans used this cemetery to bury their fallen. Later the area was occupied by the British who also buried their victims there.

Ingoyghem Military Cemetery was originally a German cemetery from 1918, to which the Allies added 85 British and three Canadian graves during the liberation of the region in October - November 1918. Only three Germans could be identified.
