The current mill was built in 1799 by Michiel Schoonwater on behalf of Wijchen lord Joan Carel d'Osy. The sand hill northeast of the castle serves as building land for the stone flour mill. At the time, the so-called Molenberg was located completely outside the village in an area characterized by heathlands. The name of the mill builder is engraved on the top wheel of the mill.
