St Andrew’s Church is a picturesque place of worship in the heart of Alfriston, right on the village green. Known as the 'cathedral of the South Downs', the 14th-century structure is set on a small mound by the river and is built in the form of a cross.

St Andrew's Church is the parish church of Alfriston, East Sussex, England. This Grade I listed building was built in the 1370s and is also known as the 'Cathedral of the Downs'. It sits on a small, flint-walled mound, indicating that it was the site of a pre-Christian place of worship, in the middle of 'the Tye' (the local village green), overlooking the River Cuckmere, and is surrounded by the flowered graveyard. It is built in the form of a Greek cross.

Look out for the 14th century sundial left to the south porch.

Our Dan and T1 have given a great account of this lovely little church, and I fear I will only be treading on the toes of highlight giants if I add any more antecedent information on this church. With this being said, there are numerous park benches in the vicinity to rest a weary hiker's butt on, and there is a rather interesting green ‘bomb’ or mine on the edge of the village green!
