It rained all day until my arrival at an Air BnB. I had camped up until this point and was glad for the break as everything was wet. Lots of cycling along canal paths and by the side of rail lines. On any other day it would have been great. At least I had the wind behind me...
Obviously, once in Lille

I cycled up to Zeebrugge so I could cycle along a canal path into Bruges. To be honest it was a bit dull and ended up spitting me out onto a road that ran along the canal by an industrial area. That took me into Bruges.
I have been to Bruges recently so only stopped for something to eat. If you haven

The first section from the ferry port is a little busy but eventually you get onto a cycle path. The section along the coastline takes you right along the front. Not sure who the architect was but the entire coastline is dominated by huge tower blocks. They're well kept and have bars/restaurants. They

The ride out via the Kent Downs had some great views and is fast.
Stopped half way at the Beach Cafe Whitstable to refuel.
The next stage to Reculver was a bit of an add on. Could do better.
Very busy on the way back with drivers panic buying petrol. Solid traffic from Chatham to Rochester.

Chatham to Newington is not great. It's the A2 and you are sharing the road with lorries. Other than that it's country roads and no real hills to speak of.

I wanted to go to Bewl as it's got a campsite and looked as though it might be a good stop over for a future trip. If anything i would probably stay for two nights as you can cycle around the reservoir or sign yourself up for a number of water sports
Outbound it's a nice ride. A bit up and down but nothing

The first 5 miles take you through Friston Forest. Definately not for skinny tyres. The next 5 were a mix of road and single track but all had one thing in common, very steep. On the day I cycled it was in the high 20's . The road down to Burling Gap was great but, the ride up Beachy Head road was a

I set off from Ebbsfleet International catching the train to Ashford. The cycle paths to get you out of Ashford are really good. It's then a steady ride down to Rye along country roads which to be honest was a bit dull. Rye town itself is well worth a visit. The harbour is 2 miles outside of town and

Another ride, another weather warning. Starting at Canterbury West train station. First stop the cafe. A full English does seem to do the job although they never mention that in GCN. Definately a good pick though. The rain started shortly after although it was 20 degrees so weirdly quite nice. Once out

I know its slow, but try riding into a 50kph+ headwind during a weather warning...

This was a two day tour starting at Whitstable. The ten year old Trek was dug out for the task. Some faster rolling tyres were added with some cheap pannier bags stuck on the back. I added a kick stand and took time to apologise to the bike. However, it turns out kick stands are very useful if you

Started off okay with more cycling along canal paths. Then out into the open country side. It was supposed to be as sunny day predicted 20 degrees. Turned into 12 degrees and a 30kph headwind. The open countryside offered no protection from the wind and made it tough going. I'd left plenty of time for
