Access: small path halfway up from the east ascent opposite the small pulpit that points towards the Birk valley

During excavations between 1967 and 1971, Karl-Heinz Rieder found numerous pottery shards and metal objects from the early bronze, urnfield, Hallstatt and Celtic times, but also indications that the cave was still used as a refuge for people in the Middle Ages.

According to legend, an underground passage once led from Waggerlloch to Arnsberg Castle.
That is not true, but it could give a huge boost to tourism, thought Mayor Heinrich Hackner 50 years ago, and decided to give the legend a boost. On the spur of the moment, he ordered a man into the cave who was supposed to work his way towards Arnsberg with a shovel and pick. But the cunning plan did not work: the rock turned out to be too hard; the sweat-drenched worker threw the hoe aside in frustration after driving half a meter.

At the viewing platform, a narrow footpath goes up the mountain after 25m behind a rock, the Waggerloch hides a cave in the rock. Take a torch with you when the weather is overcast.
