This polder mill was built in the 17th century to drain the polders known as Molenaarsgraaf and Giessen-Oudebenedenkerk. It didn't do this on its own. Originally, there were three mills along these polders, but the other two mills were demolished long ago. Today, the Middelmolen is a national monument.

Hiking
The walking path that passes the Middelmolen winds through meadows and a grassy dike. Occasionally, you'll have to climb over fences. The Middelmolen is a hollow post mill on Graafdijk West in Molenaarsgraaf, in the Dutch municipality of Molenlanden. The mill was probably built in 1655 to drain the Giessen-Oudebenedenkerk and Molenaarsgraaf polder, along with two other, now-defunct mills: the Zuidmolen and "De Kraak." Wikipedia
