As from 1836 reinforced glassblowers, grinders and engravers from Bohemia, Silesia, the Solling and other areas were recruited, needed for these craftsmen apartments. The manufacturer Karl Röhrig had 1838 build in the street named after him, in which 19 families with up to 85 people lived. This was the first social housing construction in our place.
After the closure of the glassworks many craftsmen stayed here.
