Sophienholm was built in 1769 as a summer residence by the then Director of the Royal Post Office.
In 1963, the residence and park were purchased by the town of Lyngby and opened to the public in 1967 with a major exhibition on Danish Classicism (Dansk Guldalder).

Hiking
A beautiful castle with an art exhibition and café. Some of the art can also be viewed for free in the garden, as the walking path leads through it anyway. The garden itself is also very lovely and offers plenty of seating. The Norwegian-style cottage has a cool staircase and a beautiful view of the lake.
