In January 2015 I left London on my bicycle to see how far east I could pedal…
By the time I arrived home - almost 3 years later - I'd cycled around the world via 42 countries and 50,000km.

I've tried my hand at ultra-racing a few times, but am happiest when touring at a more leisurely pace with a tent strapped onto my bike.

I also love a long walk - having hiked the Camino de Santiago and Corsica's GR20 among others.

Mission complete! 125km along The Capital Ring all done. 6 sections chipped away at over the last 3 weeks. Actually today's was probably the most boring section. My legs felt heavy, it was muggy, and I have a blister from my new running shoes - that probably didn't help. Lots of familiar sections to me, with a few of South London's quirks - like Crystal Palace's dinosaur's and the intimidating HMP Wandsworth...

Finally a stretch under blue skies... but the price I paid was running in 32C. Hard work up Shooters Hill! This was the most tedious start point for me to get to so far, but at least the trains were running today. It was also my favourite leg of the run so far, despite the heat. I knew the section along the Thames, but as the route turned south it was all new to me until Beckenham Palace Park. Many nice views, amazing architecture and so much greenery!

More progress on the Capital Ring! ⭕️ Took advantage of a plan-free Sunday, and travelled back up to Manor House where I finished a few days ago. Part 4 had my favourite sections, and also some of the most frustrating. Loved seeing some streets and parks I haven't been to before in Stoke Newington, and it's years since I've done that leg along the River Lea. There are closures on the Greenway, which made finding alternatives really tedious. The Greenway is an efficient cycle, but a boring slog on two feet. Opted for the Woolwich ferry instead of the foot tunnel - far nicer way of crossing the Thames! ⛴️
