The three springs Wernarzer Quelle, Sinnberger Quelle and König-Ludwig-I-Quelle were first documented in the years 1747-1749 and were the starting point for the developing spa system. The foundation stone for this was laid by the prince abbots of Fulda, who had the first parks and spa buildings built here from 1747 onwards. After the transfer to Bavaria in 1816, the extensive expansion took place, the structures of which have essentially been preserved to this day.
