A hard life for the slaves. Often in a room measuring 2 x 2 meters, up to 15 slaves had to endure, sleep and live.

The Maison des Esclaves is a memorial to the cruel slave trade on Gorée Island. In the slave house built in 1784, the painful story is conveyed in the form of photographs and writings by the slaves. The cells of the children, women and men as well as dungeons are to be visited. At the latest at the "door of the journey without return" one silences on the tour and hears perhaps still a few ghost voices by the museum murmur.

A place of no return for the slaves who were transported from here by ship to America. Endless suffering took place there. Also a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
