The castle and the castle park are very beautiful. You can spend a lovely time here on a hiking or cycling tour. The best thing is to enjoy a delicious ice cream, which is available at the upper end of the castle park. Right next to it is a beautifully laid out children's playground.

In July 2011, the nearby 18th century hunting lodge was established as the Richard Wagner Museum. There they deal with the topic of Richard Wagner in Saxony, because Wagner spent over 25 years of his life in Saxony (childhood in Leipzig and Dresden, court orchestra conductor in Dresden) and wrote or designed many of his works there (early works, Tannhäuser, Lohengrin, Siegfried's death). The financing of the museum equipment was secured through donations of around one million euros.

A Richard Wagner hiking trail with a series of information boards about his life was set up around and in the palace gardens.

"The Graupa hunting lodge is one of the Richard Wagner sites in Graupa, along with the Lohengrin House, the cultural trail and the Richard Wagner memorial. In 1933, the Saxon Homeland Protection Association donated two swans to the castle pond as a reminder of the creation of the opera Lohengrin during Richard Wagner's visit in the summer of 1846.

There are currently no swans left on the property and the Graupa local council is now planning to resettle a pair of swans in the castle pond of the Graupa hunting lodge. The plan is to only house flightless animals that have been in an accident on the pond and in the enclosure. In this context, an investigation of the site was commissioned to determine the possibility of integrating a swan enclosure into the castle park."

According to SZ, the enclosure has been completed, but there are still no swans there.
