25 years later it is time for Venlo to celebrate 675 years of city rights. It is the end of 2018. Schobbers is presenting a monumental commission from the Scheuten Foundation, the community and the state. Tango is a monster of steel this time. The danger of cracks in the glass is a thing of the past. Tango is ten meters high and weighs 24 tons. The sculpture's bright red coating reflects the passion of a fiery tango dance. The form of the tango is simple, but never ceases to amaze the viewer. It looks different from each side. Tango shares this aspect with Sphinx. It's clearly by the same artist.

Tango is so big that it had to be made in two parts in a workshop in Weert. The U-shaped part and the sharp point reach Venlo as ship cargo. On the banks of the Meuse, the sculpture is pushed together millimeter by millimeter in nerve-wracking precision work. When Tango is finally erected, the sharp point is reminiscent of the chisel point that went through the glass wall to remove Sphinx, touching the heart and soul of Schobbers as well.
