Grenzweg Trail

Here the Rothaarsteig runs over the Grenzweg, which once separated the Sauerland from the Electorate of Cologne and the Waldecker Land. Today it is the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. The forest path is beautifully left in its natural state, with lots of roots and a decent ascent and descent. In the middle of it crosses a small stream that has to be crossed;)

The Grenzweg runs on the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. The steep ascent leads directly to the 843 m high Langenberg, which is the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia. I would really advise caution when descending in wet conditions, as it is sometimes quite steep.

A beautiful Mooswiesen forest hiking trail with a lot of gradient, when the sun shines through the fir trees you are like in the fairy tale forest 🙃👍🌄
