A Jenchin von Muncik and Munzig was first mentioned as a manor in 1340. The town itself had its beginnings in today's Obermunzig, where an outwork was mentioned in 1457. The Lords of Miltitz exercised the manorial rule in the 16th century. Over time, a manor had developed from the Vorwerk, which was listed as such in 1696.
