Along the Oemberg are numerous streams: Schengertholzbach and Bachärme of the Wambach, so it is often wet and foggy at the brook. Since the Oemberg is slightly higher than the surrounding areas, in good weather, a view towards Uhlenhorst and the Saarner dome is possible.

The nature reserve (NSG) "Wambachtal and Oembergmoor" is located in the south-west of the Mülheim urban area and belongs to the contiguous forest area "Broich-Speldorfer Wald". It includes the course of the Wambaches with tributary streams and large forest areas; in the middle part it narrows to the creek with adjacent five meter wide buffer strip (grassland). A short section of the Wambaches runs west of the route of the A3 to the mouth in the duck fishing (former gravel pit). It is a short section of the Wambache between the A3 and the mouth in the duck fishing (former gravel pit). The stream is accompanied by a natural alder forest. In the estuary, an alder quarry has developed with numerous typical plant species.

Parts of the nature reserve are located in the catchment area of the Wambaches LB "Oembergmoor"; and "Wambach's upper reaches" as well as the existing Wambachniederung nature reserve (see Landschaftsplan Stadt Mülheim an der Ruhr of 1 June 1982).

The whole area is crossed by hiking trails and trails. This invites you to explore the area and is also a lot of fun with children, because the small rivers and the fallen trees bring a lot of variety and climbing fun.
