Union Bridge, Feldkirch
Feldkirch. The unification bridge between the city and Tosters was almost a centuries-old wish of the Tostner population, in order to get to or from the city without the detour via Gisingen or Tisis. Carriages had to drive either via Tisis and the Hohle Gasse or via the Tisner Ried to Tosters. The third variant was the very arduous steep drive from Kehr over Margarethenkapf to Kapfweg. In 1884/1885 the tunnel from the Kapf Gorge to Gisingen was cut and a bridge was built over the Ill. Floods repeatedly destroyed these bridges and the construction of a canal from the new power station to the Hämmerlefabrik did not solve the problem in the Kapf Gorge.
Not until 1930 - With the unification of the former municipalities of the city center, Tosters, Tisis, Nofels, Gisingen, Levis and Altenstadt to Groß-Feldkirch in 1925, the “spiritual” foundation stone for the actual start of construction of the “Vereinigungsbrücke” and the associated widening of the Kapfschlucht laid in 1927. However, it took until May 18, 1930 for the bridge to be inaugurated.

The bridge runs over the Kapfschlucht and connects the towns of Feldkirch and Tosters. You can collect beautiful impressions from it.
