The Kürnberg near Linz has been an area populated for thousands of years. Since it rose above the once swampy lowlands of the Danube Valley, it was an ideal settlement.
It was so small that you could almost have missed it. The small summit cross on the Kürnberg, which was set up in a clearing between individual trees and bushes, has now faced great competition.
Because the senior citizens' association Leonding moved out with a tractor and shovel to erect a new monument on the local mountain of the municipalities of Leonding and Wilhering. A stainless steel sculpture has been decorating the highest point of the Kürnberger Forest since the end of August.

Since August 2018, the Pilgrim's Cross has been on the Kürnberg (526 m) on the summit plateau, the highest point of the castle area, surrounded by wooden benches. On the initiative of Helmut Harrer (Senior Citizens Association Leonding), Professor Wilfried Hopf designed this stainless steel sculpture, whose reflecting ball at the cross point represents the world connection.
