The town of Calonge is divided into two parts, a medieval village on a hill and a modern one, intended as a vacation spot by the sea. The main urban center and original town is about 4 km inland from San Antonio Bay. Some towers and walls of the Calonge castle date from the 13th century.

The modern and coastal part, mainly used for holidays, is known as San Antonio de Calonge and is located between Playa de Aro and Palamós.
