The Zwönitz friends of nature and local history and the members of the Heiligenhauser VVH (Association for Transport and Local Preservation) have both committed themselves to maintaining an intact environment. They maintained friendly contacts from the start, visited each other often and explored the beauties of their homeland. In 1993, the VVH, under the direction of its chairman Wolfgang Knospe and the head of the cultural office, Reinhard Schneider, set up the memorial site "Heiligenhauser Eck" in Zwönitz - halfway to the "Galgenspitze" mountain.

In 1994, the people of Zwönitz gave hand-made benches and tables along with a coat of arms stele to equip a rest stop. It found an ideal location in the idyllic Vogelsangbach valley, near the Café Herberge, on a site provided by Walter Wüster and became the "Zwönitzer Eck". But when the ravages of time gnawed at the wood years later, the renovation became necessary and was decided and carried out by the VVH. While a magnificent kite circled over the spring-green meadows, trees and bushes, the VVH celebrated the inauguration on April 28, 2012 with a large crowd of guests. <<
