The Zwinger Garden is a park in Dresden (in the Innere Altstadt district).

With an area of 2.2 hectares, it is the 21st largest park in the city and invites you to stroll and linger.

With inviting green spaces and seating areas, the Zwinger Garden offers numerous opportunities for relaxation.

The Zwingerteich pond originated from the Zwinger's old fortress moat, which is still recognizable at the Kronentor gate. It is located in the park west of the Zwinger. From the bridge in front of the Kronentor, you can observe the carp in the pond. In winter, the pond is also popular with ice skaters.

As part of the city's defortification in the early 19th century, the moat in front of the Zwinger was also filled in by 1812. Only the pond in the western part, on what is now Am Zwingerteich street, remained. A park area was created in front of the Kronentor gate around 1819. Between 1924 and 1936, the moat along Ostra-Allee was restored. However, it was separated from the Zwingerteich pond by a land bridge. During the restoration in 1951, the Zwingergraben and Zwingerteich pond were connected, so that the moat and pond appear in their current form.

Small, well-kept green area next to the Zwinger and Semperoper.
