Tailings from shafts I/II of the Brassert colliery were deposited here. The part east of Brasserstrasse and west of Zechenstrasse has been preserved; the eastern part was later demolished and a commercial area was set up. The remaining area has an area of 4.3 hectares and stretches about 450 meters from north to south. Its highest point is 67 meters above sea level and about 15 to 18 meters above the surrounding terrain. The Brassert III dump is about 1.5 km away.
If you are interested in the history of the Brassert colliery, you should hike not only to the Brassert III dump but also to the Brassert I/II dump. Although almost invisible from the outside due to the tree planting, the dump still offers some interesting views of the leisure area, the commercial area on one side - and of the gardens/Brassertstrasse on the other side of the dump. (as far as the foliage of the trees allows)

Today, it's hard to imagine what it looked like back when the dump was first filled in. Today, it's a beautifully overgrown recreational area.
