Ravenseat and its farm are both a lovely place to walk past or perhaps stop near at. (Please note that as the farm is no longer open to the public, having shut recently; no tea and cakes any more, I am afraid...)

The farmhouse and its buildings are from the 18th and 19th centuries, and are Grade-II listed, and you simply cannot miss the charming bridge over Whitsundale Beck.

      Update August 2023:
A few days ago, Amanda Owens posted this message on social media:
"Ravenseat Farm is closed to visitors until further notice, so, unfortunately, we are not serving cream teas. Thank you for your understanding. Amanda."

Walking the Coast to Coast Walk, coming from the Nine Standards Rigg, you cross the desolate Whitsun Dale until a dilapidated shed shows the first sign of human presence (I walked in April; I imagine you wouldn't be here in summer). alone in the world"). A little further on, Ravenseat suddenly appears in a valley.
Spontaneously the phrase "Heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens" by Talking Heads pops into my head.
What. A. Heavenly. Place. Is. This.
When I arrive at my B&B in Keld, I say how beautiful I thought that place was.
I am promptly handed three books by Amanda Owen. The lady of the house of Raven Seat turns out to be a well-known figure: "The Shepherdess", writer, TV character, mother of nine, ...
I can completely understand that a woman who grew up in the city was attracted to this place ;-)
