The town hall was the social center of the city. Here important decisions were made, judiciary exercised, trade supported. The Ulanengarnision lying in Geithain had its Hauptwache on the ground floor until 1897. During the fairs, the clothiers laid out their fabrics in the hall of the upper floor. Of course, there was also a celebration here in the town hall.

The foundations of the town hall date back to the 15th century.

However, several devastating city fires blurred the tracks. In the cellar area Kreuzgratgewölbe and on the ground floor ribbed vault from the construction phase around 1538 have been preserved.
