Some remains of the wall of the fortifications of the former Hahnenkamm Castle on the free-standing mountain spur in front of the high wall of the Breitenstein. Unfortunately very ingrown in the deciduous forest and therefore hardly noticed.

Only parts of the enclosing walls reconstructed in 1973 remain from the medieval castle.
The castle was probably built between 1250 and 1280 by the Dukes of Teck. The castle is one of a series of satellite castles that had to protect the ducal castle on the Teck. In 1297 a Gumpold von Hahnenkamm was mentioned in a document.

Only a few remains of the wall are left of the Hahnenkamm ruins. There is a small barbecue area on top of the ruin.

A short detour from the climb to Breitenstein. Interesting where you can find castle ruins everywhere

A ruin that one hardly suspects here. Unfortunately, the inner wall was somewhat destroyed by a campfire that was lit directly on the wall. The insurgents of the medieval peasant wars already made the castles small.

There is also a fireplace here
