The Alfter cemetery, located between the Alfter Castle and the Buchholz manor house on the slope of the foothills, is a worthy reminder of those buried there with the - mostly - beautifully tended graves.

Hiking

Wilhelm Maucher, known as the "Vorgebirgsrebell", inventor of the blackberry wine "Rebellenblut" and a committed peace activist, is also buried in this cemetery. He created the Peace Trail with the commandment stones and the large Christ statue (easily accessible on foot from the Alfter cemetery).
