Two-part complex from "Alter Burg" (four-winged Renaissance castle as a successor to a medieval moated castle); and baroque palace attached to it.

Note: The shape of today's "castle ensemble" is the result of many additions and conversions, so that Gänsefurth Castle today presents itself as a complex that has grown over the centuries. The origin of the castle lies in a castle of the 14./15. Century, of which some components have survived. In the 16th century, this was converted into a Renaissance castle and also changed in the following centuries through further conversions. The construction of the baroque wing in the 18th century represented the greatest structural intervention.

Until 1939 a motorsport school was housed in the castle, and until 1945 a labor service camp for female labor service. In 1945 it was used by the Soviet occupying forces and returned to the town of Hecklingen in 1947, which set up an after-work home there. The after-work home existed in the castle until 1992, which in those years was more and more dilapidated. In the 1970s, the home and castle no longer had any prospects. The former mayor of Hecklingen advises against an urgently needed general repair of the castle, since the construction of a new home in Stassfurt was planned at that time. In 1992, the after-work home was taken over by the association "Lebenshilfe Bördeland" and converted into a home for the disabled, which, however, already moved to a new building in Hecklingen in 1998. The conversion into a "children's and youth hotel" from 2001 by a private project promoter was abandoned a few years later , since then the castle has been empty.

It's a pity that there is no reasonable future for this beautiful building.
