In the Castrum Vechtense project, a castle complex is to be built successively on the redesigned citadel park - modeled after the former Vechta Castle.
It is a medieval three-island castle complex of 11/12. Century arise on a roughly 2-acre section of the citadel park model - with main, front and side castle and many buildings. The basis for the reconstruction are archaeological and historical research
in northern Germany.
To visit today are the castle tower (fee) and the garden

The Citadel Vechta was a citadel built in the city of Vechta from 1666 and demolished in 1769. In the 1990s, the former fortifications were partially reconstructed and today form the site of the Citadel Park with various cultural institutions, such as the museum in the armory and the Castrum Vechtense.
