Only a few steps from the office building in a southerly direction you can see the city wall and the thief tower (26.9 meters) through an archway. This tower stands in the SE corner of the city wall inside the former prison yard. It used to be accessible via the battlements. Behind the access hatch at a height of 6 meters is the "fear hole", the upper opening of the dungeon. Today the thief's tower is accessible via an iron ladder on special occasions.

The former prison and the associated thief tower are managed: there is the idyllic beer garden "Zum Freigang".
