The lighthouse, made of concrete, has a height of 29 meters. The construction was painted with two white and red bands, so that it can also serve as a landmark during the day. The light is at 28 meters. The tower emits two red flashes every 14 seconds. To make this possible, a Fresnel lens system was installed, weighing approximately 150 kg. This system runs on a mercury bath and makes one revolution every 14 seconds. Furthermore, the tower is equipped with a lamp changer that automatically turns away a defective lamp and installs a new one in the center of the lens system. A diesel generator is also available to provide power when the mains power fails. A light sensor ensures that the light comes on automatically when it gets dark and goes out again at dawn.
