Hiking

The small inconspicuous chapel in Bürgstadt awaits you with an incredible inner life. The Ursrpünge of the chapel date back to the 10th century and thus it is considered the oldest church in Franconia. After a reconstruction in 1589, the artist Andreas Herneisen has provided the walls and the wooden ceiling in tedious detail over and over with pictures and ornaments. Some of them are in bad shape today, but that's the very reason why you can feel the age of the church very well.
