The Wildermolen was purchased in Elingen in 1801 by Adriaan D'Hauwer, miller in Appelterre. He had the mill erected on this site in 1802. In 1973 the Wildermolen was classified as a monument. In 1979 it was donated to the city of Ninove. After the restoration of 1993 - by mill maker Roland Wieme - it is fully capable of grinding. The Wildermolen is a standard or post mill with an open base that rotates completely around its axis so that it can optimally "catch" the wind.
The mill is open on European Mill Day, Open Monument Day and East Flemish Mill Day.
You can make an appointment via Fonteintjesmolen@gmail.com for guided tours of groups and schools.
If you are in the vicinity of a mill, you can obtain more information about that mill via the free heritage app, which can be downloaded for free on a smartphone via erfgoedapp.be.
