Station 8 is a stop on a very nice forest walk for young and old...
The Grave Ravenpad takes you on an adventure in the forests of Ravels and introduces you to long-forgotten folktales from the region. And who knows, some forest inhabitants might cross your path?
Do you already know the IJle Prices, Hugo de Raaf or the Iron Sow?
Enjoy the special adventure...
Three Ile Prizes, Hugo de Raaf, the Iron Sow and a mysterious newborn animal are hidden in the Gewestbos in Ravels.
The hidden magic of the wooded area and play in nature are central. During the walk you will discover the story of De IJle Prijen and the White Raafje, inspired by old Kempen folk tales.
Folk figures and mythical creatures are brought to life on storyboards. Moreover, some local entrepreneurs made edible creations especially in the theme of this walk.

Central avenue of 7 km long connects the Gewestbos Ravels from North to South. The avenue is named after the founder Marneffe of this pilot project.
Today many use the Marneffdreef to quickly go straight from north to south.
History: The wastelands were bought by the Belgian state at the beginning of the 20th century (1903 - 1904). These grounds mainly consisted of heath. From 1906 the grounds were planted with Scots pines. The forest was a kind of experimental forest in which it was examined how one could convert heathland into coniferous forests.
This pilot project to understand the quality of trees was important for the mining industry.
