The basic Romanesque structure of the collegiate church has been preserved to this day despite numerous changes. The church was built between 1114 and 1136 as a three-aisled basilica with a transept and crossing tower. The external appearance today is strongly influenced by the restoration of the 19th century. Inside, the medieval character was completely lost due to the sweeping baroque renovation measures of the 17th and 18th centuries. The three-aisled basilica became a hall church with side chapels.
