The Kalimanjaro, as it is popularly known, is basically a waste product. The Sigmundshall potash and salt works mined salt here in Mesmerode / Bokeloh until 2018. All of the material that could not be processed was heaped up in this heap. Today a really impressive mountain. Part of it is already greened and work is being continued on it.
