Waldgeist Zur Eisernen Hand

The Iron Hand is a mountain pass on the main Taunus ridge.

The forest restaurant "Waldgeist zur Eisern Hand" is located at a former and now closed train station.
An ideal starting point for numerous hikes, but also ideal as a destination to reward yourself with a good meal.

Really great food at reasonable prices, we liked it there, after our hike we sat together in the beer garden and had fun.

After a long hike, you can reward yourself with a good meal here. Very nice and attentive service. There is plenty of parking there. What more do you want!

Seen from Wiesbaden, the lowest point over the main Taunus ridge was a cut called the Iron Hand. It is about 100 meters lower than the surrounding, heavily wooded Taunus mountains. This advantage was taken into account when planning the route of the Aartalbahn and thus the local recreation area around the Schläferskopf was better connected to the spa town of Wiesbaden in terms of tourism.At 421 m above sea level, the Eiserne Hand station is the highest point on the Aartalbahn and the highest station in the entire Taunus.The station building was a two-storey clinker building with a waiting room and an extension that housed a restaurant.In 2004 the station was severely damaged by fire, but was rebuilt. The station clock is said to still be in its original condition.Even after the closure of operations on the railway line, the station building is used as a popular excursion restaurant.In the 1960s, the original tracks in the station were removed and the station was converted into a halt.
