The former stadium was opened with the finish of the 3rd stage of the international peace race on May 11, 1966. Spartak Hradec Králové and the Brazilian club CR Vasco da Gama (2:3) played the first football match in the stadium. The most striking feature of the Všesportovnístadion is the floodlight system built in 1975. The four masts, each weighing 45 tons and 55 meters high, are reminiscent of oversized lollipops in their shape. This is where the nickname Stadion pod lízátky (Stadium under the lollipops) comes from.
