I particularly liked the fact that there are sculptures and statues everywhere, most of them extremely beautiful. Right on the water, for example, is the bronze sculpture "Zwiegespräch" (Conversation) by Jürgen Ebert. Or the rather famous "Rhinkieker" (Rhinkieker), which grins around the corner from the city center and looks out over the river.

Nordic walking
Something special in Rees is the bear. It's not an animal, but a connecting dam built by the Dutch starting in 1616 between the city wall and an outlying bastion. There used to be a lock here to regulate the water level. Filled with clay on the inside, the bear served as protection against flooding and ice.
