"... The city garden is within walking distance of the city center and is a local recreation area directly at the museum center square.
In the immediate vicinity of the city center, the city garden offers good opportunities for peaceful relaxation. One of the main entrances is an archway from 1923 on Parkstrasse. There are further entrances from the street Im Stadtgarten am Overbeckshof.
The city garden was planned as early as 1913, but it was not laid out in the style of an English landscape garden until 1921 according to a draft of the city administration. Over the years, the current 16.4 hectare city garden (plus 6.1 hectares for the Overbeckshof allotment garden) has been changed several times, but fortunately the characteristic image of the garden design of that era has been preserved.
The city garden is particularly interesting due to the varied alternation of wide lawns, old trees and varied planted terrain.
In addition to the opportunities for long walks, visits to the Josef Albers Museum and the Museum of Prehistory and Local History, a detour with children to the large adventure playground and mini golf, the large lawn between the park restaurant "Overbeckshof" and the Marienhospital Opportunity for fun and games for young and old.
The city garden borders on the Kölln forest. The Kölln Forest is a large forest landscape that invites you to take long walks and bike rides. The two city ponds can also be found here. Embedded in the forest, they offer the visitor pure nature. ... "
