The Hochalmsattel marks the 1,803 meter high transition between the Karwendel and Filztal valleys. The Jochkreuz stands on the highest point. In summer it is worth making a detour to the nearby Karwendelhaus. It offers places to stop and stay overnight. You come up here either from Scharnitz or from Hinterriss, although the ascent from Scharnitz is a bit more moderate. Once you have made the sweaty uphill, you can enjoy the wonderful view of the surrounding peaks such as the Hochalmkreuz and the Birkkarspitze from here.
