The redoubt was built in the classical style from 1790 to 1792 under Elector Max Franz; The architect was Martin Leydel. It should be used for balls and other court amusements - the name "Redoute" is an old name for a costume ball. The originally three-wing building was later supplemented by the oval garden room between the two wings. The adjacent house on the Redoute, the construction of which also began in 1790, served as a court and chamber theater until 1860, and then as a residential building.
