Monthermé is located on both banks of the Semoy.
And as its name does not indicate it at all, its inhabitants are called the Baraquins. This kindness would come from the fact that the small town was at one time only a collection of a few huts. Their occupants were called “those in the barracks”. Hence the name Baraquins.
