In December 2021, De Langeman, a 200-meter-long, 6-meter-wide bicycle bridge, opened. The name De Langeman refers to the famous Hasselt giant, but also alludes to the physical characteristics of Hasselt's longest bridge.[3] The bridge is part of the F72 cycle highway, which changes banks there.

The lock complex was built during the construction of the canal in the 1930s and includes three locks and a road bridge. The lock opened in 1939.
The construction of a pumping hydroelectric power station at the Hasselt lock should be completed by the end of 2018.
