The Wenceslas Church was first mentioned in documents in 1208. It can be assumed that the place where the Wenceslas Church stands today served as a cultural site for the first pagan settlers.
After the Christianization, a wooden chapel was built there and the later brick chapel was probably consecrated by Slavic settlers in the 10th century to St. Wenceslas.
The Wenceslas Church, the Dionysius Chapel and the nave of the parish church were probably planned by the same master. The late Gothic nave in the Wenceslas Church has a ribbed vault and dates back to the beginning of the 16th century.
In 1964, the Wenceslas Church was handed over after its restoration work its purpose as a war memorial for the district of Freistadt.
