A top-class cultural jewel stands on the Hohenstein: the St. Agidi Church, which is said to date from 865. The first documentary mention was in 1519. The church is now privately owned. Finds (ceramic fragments and silver coins) from the Middle Ages were found in the former moat. The latest findings from experts from the Linz City Museum in Nordico also clearly demonstrate settlement activities in the region around Engerwitzdorf and the Gallneukirchen basin from the Stone Age to the time of the Neanderthals around 40,000 to 50,000 years ago.
