A hike over the Mount of Olives is especially worthwhile if you visit the Schauenburg in Dossenheim. Then back over the Mount of Olives to Schriesheim to the Strahlenburg and along the vineyards.

A worthwhile tour of the Mount of Olives in every season. Insanely great view! Tip: Take the sunset with you, but be careful when descending or take a headlamp.

Sturdy shoes and a head for heights. bouldering possible

Very nice view down to the Rhine valley. Coming from Schriesheim or Dossenheim it is sometimes steeply uphill.

Spectacular view of the quarry from above. You don't often have that perspective!
January 17, 2021
Very nice view, especially from the wooden bench at the top near the demolition edge. Note: the way there is officially cordoned off with 2 ropes ...
June 28, 2021

As beautiful as it is ... it is as dangerous as it is ...

Nice view of the Rhine plain. The Mount of Olives is a nature reserve - if you are lucky you can see a stag beetle along the way ...

The Schriesheim quarry is a highlight for me, there is a lot to explore or the possibility of doing a via ferrata in several stages, the high rock massif above the vineyards is easy to reach. Don't forget your helmet and via ferrata gear.

The view is worth it again and again!

A beautiful hiking trail, not easy, but very varied.

You can also "climb" up via ferratas over the quarry. Securing with rope etc. is not necessary because it is not a real "climbing", but a fixed via ferrata with conventional ladders and artificially attached grip options, as well as a steel cable for safety. Every now and then there are very short sections without a ladder where you can step on the rock.
Even if a climbing rope is not required, at least a via ferrata set is recommended. Basic climbing experience should be available. A head for heights is required. Technically not demanding and very easy to climb, but if you act stupid you can fall 20m deep. You definitely shouldn't go long here with small children.

It does make sense not to get too close to the edge. Unfortunately not everyone understands that.
September 27, 2020
Grandiose view for which the arduous ascent is worthwhile.
May 17, 2021
beautiful view from up there and an exhausting but rewarding way up there !!
May 24, 2021
The path over the Mount of Olives leads partly along the edge of the Schriesheim quarry and is steep and narrow in places and quite slightly demanding. From above you have a great view of the quarry and the Rhine plain, and when the weather is clear you can see as far as the Palatinate Forest.

Simply a great view of Schriesheim and the dimensions of the impressive quarry.
