The castle, built in the 12th century, is located at the beginning of the Triestingtal, in the district of Lilienfeld.
At almost 800 meters above sea level, it is the highest castle ruin in Lower Austria.
The castle is owned by Lilienfeld Abbey and was leased by the municipality of Kaumberg for 99 years.

From Kaumberg you can reach them in about 90 minutes. From the 27m high keep you can enjoy an unforgettable view. To the east you can see the gently sloping hills of the Vienna Woods, while to the south-west the foothills of the Alps stretch out with their rugged cliffs.
