A beautiful church. Worth seeing not only from the outside but also from the inside.

The monastery church was built between approximately 1460 and 1480. Upon its completion, it was one of the largest churches in the country: 75 meters long and 32 meters wide. It consisted of a 25-meter-high nave flanked by two 15-meter-high side aisles. All three naves were covered by the same enormous roof and topped with massive gables with glazed walls to the east and west.As Mariager Church appears today, it is only a modest building compared to its original design. After the monastery was closed, the church became a regular parish church for the town of Mariager. However, the upkeep of the mighty church proved too much for the small market town, and the church fell into disrepair. In 1788-89, the Horsens architect Anders Kruuse carried out a radical renovation and reduction of the building. The entire eastern part of the church was demolished and replaced with a small, low choir. A restoration was carried out between 1931 and 1933, during which the small choir was raised.da-m-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/wiki/Mariager_Kirke?_x_tr_sl=da&_x_tr_tl=de&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=nui,sc
