The fountain is popularly known as the "ZDF fountain" because its shape is reminiscent of the ZDF logo. It was created in 1974 by the metalsmith and designer K.-H. Steinbrück (+2000) of the artistic production cooperative (KPG) "neue form" Seidewinkel.
